Creating a Vision
There is no doubt that ICT has a leading strategic role to play in the upgrading of education in schools. A lot of the schools are resource poor and need a strategic intervention that will not only enable them but also put them on a new level. Failure to create a new learning environment in schools will have negative consequences not only for students but also for the country.

Should a disadvantaged school feel that they are in need for computer network, they can follow the school application process. Here follows some useful information:

Advice for Schools
Due to the fact that we deal with schools on a daily basis, our offices are well structured to do daily client liaison. Experience has taught us that successful installations are underpinned by:

• A structured communication process;
• A formal application process that focus on the reason for acquiring the ICT facility, the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities in terms of ICT implementation, and an education implementation plan;    *
• Briefing and guidance in site preparation;
• Installation specifications and installation reports;
• Structured handovers and structured systems orientation;
• Structured service contracts;
• Teacher training; and
• Service follow up.

NetDay’s Responsibility
NetDay will take responsibility for the following:

• Overall management of project implementation;

• Procurement and delivery of the equipment to the schools;
• Networking including fly leads, cabling, network points and satellite system;
• Unpack and install each computer to network;
• Provide basic initial training (3 hours) at schools where necessary;
• Provide telephonic technical support to schools for aperiod of one year;
• Training of teachers at an additional cost of R1500.00 per teach through an accredited service provider.

School Application Process
Application will follow the following steps:

• Please send a letter of request to our offices.
• NetDay will acknowledge your request and send you an Application Form. See attached Application Form.
• Should your application be successful, NetDay will forward you a “Facilities Preparation Checklist” to assist your school in preparing for the installation. See attached Checklist.
• Once your school has completed the preparation of the school facilities, NetDay will proceed with the installation.

PLEASE NOTE:

• The decision as to which school and where we do our next installation is done on a monthly basis.
• Our installations are dependent on the availability of sponsorship from our sponsors under their social responsibility initiatives.
• Should your school not be successful with your application, please be assured that we will place your application on file and give it priority attention should the necessary funds become available.
